Gioconomics: service design for social innovation
What is service design?

Vincenzo, Jonas and Mylene shared with – and learnt from the service design community about effective strategies for transformational processes like Gioconomics. The theme of the global Service Design Conference 2012 #SDNC12 in Paris was ‘Cultural change by design’.

The new idea for sustainability: a talent pool for cultural services

The core idea developed by Gioco, Immagine e Parole is to invest in young local talents to develop skilled workforce that can contribute to the provision of accessible services to other cultural organisations, local authorities, small and medium enterprises.

A multi-stakeholder approach to cultural transformation

Naples 2.0 and the cultural change from ‘receiving’ to ‘creating’
For a transformational process like Gioconomics, which aims to transform a voluntary organisation into a social enterprise, patience is required.
Gioco, Immagine e Parole: the need of a cultural transformation
In a multi-actor collaboration like this one it’s about knowing when to pull and when to leave the strings. After having had two proper exercises at writing a (fictional) business plan for a volunteering organisation-turned-(social)-enterprise it’s time to sit around the table to introduce the options for further development.

The Gioconomics team met in Naples with the Unicredit Foundation on the 19th of October to push the agenda forwards. To be continued…

Summertime, and the living is patient…

Social innovation is not only a result but also very much a process towards a certain result. And everybody knows processes take time. They require patience and sometimes a holiday, as does Gioconomics.
So after spending summer patiently relaxing we’re back with a few nex steps on the Gioconomics agenda. Read more in the following posts…

Business Plan meetup

Vincenzo and the local team (Emilia, Rosaria and Martina) met with the Unicredit Foundation and Marco Traversi from Project Ahead to discuss the last version of the business plan delivered in April 2012. The meeting went well and it looks like there is a serious chance to continue the work in Naples during Summer.

March 2012: the Gioconomics design team came back together for a general project review, this time in Amsterdam. Jonas, Vincenzo and Mylene have been building different possible future scenarios to develop and implement the project, while waiting for a formal feedback from the Unicredit Foundation and other project partners. They have now developed an action plan for the next weeks and are looking for the right development and delivery partners during Spring 2012. If you organisation is supporting the voluntary sector to develop and incubate social enterprise models, well, do get in touch with us!
